how it all began
While Telmo Fernandes attended the college of economics in “Universidade Católica Portuguesa” in Porto, in 1990, his cousin – João Loureiro – lead singer of the well-known Portuguese Band BAN, challenged him to put together a “Best Of Tour” of the BAN band in Portugal.
Telmo Fernandes decided to drop of school and took up the challenge, with much success.
After the tour finished and with all the new experience that this new challenge brought up to Telmo Fernandes, he decided to make his own brand for the music circuit, in 1995, SCORE MUSIC is born as a TM Brand.
how it went about
For the following ten years Telmo Fernandes dedicated much of his time to develop SCORE MUSIC TM into the company it has.
He started to pursue the Latin-American artists, bringing them to Portugal, for Live shows/concerts, at the best houses in Portugal, which include MEO ARENA(now Altice Arena); COLISEU DE LISBOA; COLISEU DO PORTO; and other main event areas in the country.
Through Telmo Fernandes, Portugal received artists such as: Ivete Sangalo; Simone; Ana Carolina; Zelia Duncan; Gabriel Pensador; Netinho; Claudia Leitte among others, always with Sold Out houses.
He also organized shows/concerts with the main Portuguese and World renowned Artists such as: Pedro Abrunhosa; Marisa; GNR; Rui Veloso; 50 Cent; Pussycats Dolls; Ryanna (twice); Nelly Furtado; Lloyd Cole; John Anderson; events with Sold Out houses.
In 2017, Telmo Fernandes and SCORE MUSIC TM approached the Nelson Mandela Foundation in order to create a global event in 2018 to celebrate the 100th Birthday of Nelson Mandela. The proposal of a three (3) day event/celebration worldwide was very welcomed and accepted by the Foundation.
After the great success of the 2018 Edition, SCORE MUSIC decided to produce this music festival every year, with dates already announced for the MUSIC TRIBUTE in Portugal and negotiations of the Brazilian edition for 2020.
Message from the Founder:
“My profound admiration and respect for Nelson Mandela´s legacy in 2017, one year before the celebration of his 100th birthday worries me very much and makes me wonder about the future. Our future as humanity as a whole. Serious environment problems that we are facing daily all over the world. Species becoming extinct. There is no symbol of Hope and Humanity left, of justice, if we do not grasp this opportunity to create awareness between ourselves, hope, will the coming generation ever know who Nelson Mandela was and what legacy he left? After all, as he said: It is in OUR hands!” Telmo Fernandes
